Session 1: Getting to know each other

Objectives of the session:

  • Know basic information about our pupils.
  • Introduce ourselves.
  • Teach them how to introduce themselves.
  • Teach them things related to the clothes and the colours.
  • Teach them how to talk about their hobbies and favourite activities.
  • Practice and improve our English.

Activities:

  1. First of all, we are going to ask them their personal information, such as the name, the age, their favourite colour...
  2. Then we will revise the colours and the clothes with some cards.
  3. Then, we will ask them what clothes are we wearing, and which colour are they.
  4. We will show some cards where different activities appear and they will have to say which activities they like most and they will have to draw some.
  5. Finally, to improve their vocabulary we are going to play a memory about clothes.

Self-evaluation:

  • Positive things: The first mentorship session was good. We learnt a lot of things about teaching kids. First of all, now we know a little bit of how to teach something to someone. And we think that this will be very important in our future.
  • Things to improve: We may improve a lot of things to teach as good as a real teacher. Firstly, we have to learn how to control a group of kids, because this can be a really difficult task. They are all talking together so we need to learn how to put some order.
  • To sum up, we can say that it was a fantastic session but we have a lot of things to improve.
